Two students of the College of Agriculture were recipients of the Young Farmers Challenges Kabataang Agribiz Program, a nationwide financial grant competition sponsored by the Department of Agriculture that seeks to provide financial grant assistance to youth and young professionals interested in enterprises in the agri-fishery sector. The awarding ceremony was held on August 20, 2021 at Maya Hall, Paraiso Verde, Brgy. Morales, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

In Region 12, 285 participants submitted their respective proposals, and 85 were selected as recipients of the financial support. Mr. Wilson A. Gucela and Mr. Marc Joshua P. Padua received PHP 50,000.00 each as start-up capital for their respective projects. Gucela’s project focused on mushroom production and processing. He is a resident of Poblacion Malapatan, Sarangani Province, and a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Soil Science student. Furthermore, Mr. Padua’s project focused on rabbit production. He is a resident of Ilomavis, Kidapawan City, and a third-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science student.

Padua received PHP50,000.00 and a certificate for winning the Young Farmers Challenges Kabataang Agribiz regional competition last August 20, 2021.
