In preparation for the upcoming Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA) on November 9-11, 2021, the State Universities and Colleges Association of Colleges of Agriculture in the Philippines (SUC-ACAP) Inc. has launched online review programs for prospective agriculturists. This initiative is a product of the collaborative efforts from member schools of the SUC-ACAP Inc., which aims to provide quality learning experience for aspiring agriculturists even in the face of pandemic.
The organization, headed by its president Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin of the Visayas State University (VSU), is organized into twelve sub-clusters. The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) was designated as focal SUC with Dr. Geoffray R. Atok as its focal person for Sub-cluster 12 together with other agricultural schools in Regions 11, 12 and CARAGA which include Compostela Valley State College (CVSC), Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP), Mindanao State University (MSU), Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), Caraga State University (CSU), Cotabato City State Polytechnic College (CCSPC), Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) and Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU).
The review classes cover six subject areas namely: Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Crop Science, Crop Protection, and Soil Science. The said review commenced last August 16, 2021 and ended on October 14, 2021. Classes are held online adopting the Learning Management System (LMS) utilized by focal SUC in its remote teaching and learning. Brilliant professors and former LEA topnotchers from USM and other premier universities in the Philippines delivered the lectures. Lectures are recorded and distributed to the reviewees. Simulated post-tests, final coaching and mock board examination were included to provide a holistic learning experience to the reviewees.
