The undertaking was initiated by ATI – Regional Training Center (RTC) XII and it was attended by the Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from various Municipal Agriculture Offices of South Cotabato, rabbit raisers, and farm owners both from the province of South and North Cotabato. In the Philippines, rabbits are mostly treated as a pet and not a meat source. However, with the recent initiatives and support made by the Department of Agriculture (DA) among the rabbit raisers in the Philippines, rabbit production nowadays has become a trend and part of the priorities of the national government.

The training was designed to intensify the food production goal of the ATI-RTC XII through its livestock production program. This training aims to make rabbit production a complementary livelihood among other backyard farm animals raised by the farmers.
